Resident Essentials Checklist

1. Clothing (Comfort + Easy Care)

  • 5–7 comfortable tops

  • 5–7 soft, elastic-waist bottoms

  • 2–3 light sweaters or zip-up jackets

  • 1 pair non-slip slippers

  • 1–2 pairs supportive closed-toe shoes

  • 10–12 pairs socks

  • 7–10 pairs undergarments

  • Sleepwear (2–3 sets)

  • Seasonal items (coat, hat, gloves)


2. Personal Care Items

  • Toothbrush + toothpaste

  • Denture care supplies (if needed)

  • Hairbrush or comb

  • Deodorant

  • Shampoo + conditioner

  • Body wash or soap

  • Lotion

  • Electric razor or shaver

  • Favorite fragrance (optional)


3. Medications & Medical Essentials

  • All current medications (labeled + original bottles)

  • Vitamins/supplements

  • Mobility aids (walker, cane, wheelchair)

  • Glasses + backup pair

  • Hearing aids + batteries

  • CPAP or oxygen equipment (if applicable)

  • Medical documents:

    • Medication list

    • Physician contacts

    • Insurance cards

    • Advance directives / POA paperwork

4. Comfort Items for Their New Home

  • Favorite blanket or throw

  • Family photo(s)

  • Small décor items

  • A few favorite books or magazine(s)

  • Pillow from home (optional)

  • Non-breakable keepsakes

  • Bible or prayer materials

5. Daily Living Items

  • Labelled laundry bag

  • Small organizer or bedside caddy

  • Reading glasses + case

  • Notepad + pens

  • Reusable water bottle

6. Electronics

  • Medications reviewed + counted

  • Legal documents copied and placed in folder

  • Emergency contacts list provided

  • Staff notified of special preferences or routines
